Jack,

My daughter sent me a link to your blog and this article. I guess you could say I'm one of those "old farts" who worries about the future of all young people and children and the future they face. I hope I take a bit more positive view than some, and I have to say my own young adults have also taken this positive view to life and travelled on and grown in many ways, personally and spiritually. I am interested in positive psychology programs, such as the one instigated by the Penn State University, one of which is now being carried out at Geelong Grammar. I'm sure you've heard of this. Any program that gives adolescents more positive feelings about themselves at that vulnerable stage of life has to be applauded.
Finally I'm thankful for people like you who inspire so many young people and understand a lot of their hopes and dreams. If more of the "older generation" sat down and listened to the younger generation they might hear some amazing ideas and might even see a reflection of themselves at the same age.
Keep up the good work, Jack!

Thanks Merilyn for your kind words. As you guessed, we are aware of the positive psychology movement. It very much informs our approach and we have had a number of exchanges with Marty Seligman as well. Warm regards, Jack
